Humanitarian Cargo Tracking Platform for a UK Aid Carrier
Humanitarian cargo crosses several countries, carriers and partner organisations. In the carrier's words, finding a load can take a round of phone calls. Long after the truck unloads, auditors and funders ask for proof of every movement. The paper receipt reaches the office days late. Hygge built a humanitarian cargo tracking platform for a UK carrier that builds that proof while the cargo moves. Drivers are tracked in the background, recipients accept cargo by QR code, and container trackers feed the same map. Each handover lands in a shared ledger. The operations team sees every load on one map.

Can You Show a Funder Where Every Load Went?
Bring one recent consignment to a 30-minute call with a Hygge architect. You see how its route and handovers would show up on the map and in the ledger.
Where Aid Cargo Drops Out of Sight
Many hands touch each load between the warehouse and the people who receive it.
Locations Found by Phone
Finding a load means calling drivers, carriers and partners one by one.
Many Carriers, Many Countries
Cargo changes hands across borders and organisations, each with its own paperwork.
Proof Requested After the Fact
Auditors and funders ask for evidence of each movement long after the truck has unloaded.
Containers Off the Map
Heavy containers travel with trackers whose data sits in separate portals.
Paper at the Destination
Receipt is confirmed on paper that reaches the office days later.
The Challenge
The carrier moves aid cargo through several countries, together with other carriers and partners. Finding a load today takes phone calls. Auditors and funders require proof of every movement. The client wanted to know where each load is at any moment. The process had to stay simple for drivers and recipients in the field.
A live position for every load and a handover record that several organisations can trust.
Our Solution
Hygge built a driver app that tracks position and routes in the background while the driver drives. Recipients accept cargo by scanning a QR code. A cloud IoT gateway takes positions from GPS trackers, including those on 25-tonne containers. Each logistics transaction is written to a blockchain ledger. Every receiving community, carrier and tender works in its own space. The operations team sees all loads on one map. Auditors get each handover with time, place and signature.
Proof built while the cargo moves: three apps, a cloud gateway for trackers and a ledger of handovers.
How Humanitarian Cargo Tracking Solves It
Each part answers one of the problems above.
Live Operations Map
Every load, truck and container on one map, with its route, last position and next handover.
Separate Spaces
Each receiving community, carrier and tender works in its own space with its own loads and records.
Movement Ledger
Each pickup, border crossing and handover is written to a ledger that auditors can check.
Container Trackers
A cloud IoT gateway collects positions from GPS trackers, including those on 25-tonne containers.
Recipient App
The receiving organisation scans the load's QR code, checks the contents and signs for it on the phone.
Driver App
The cargo tracking app runs in the background on iOS and Android. Drivers get one screen per stop and nothing to configure.
What Runs Without Anyone Pressing a Button
The steps the platform records for every consignment.
A QR Code per Consignment
Each consignment gets its own QR code when it is created.
Position Tracked in the Background
The driver app and container trackers report the position with no action from the driver.
Handovers Written to the Ledger
Each pickup, border crossing and acceptance lands in the ledger with time, place and the party responsible.
Funder Report Kept Current
The delivery report for funders fills from the ledger, with exceptions flagged.
