The Challenge

Staffing prices were opaque, and opacity favors incumbents. An established agency with a relationship wins work a newer agency or an independent nurse never sees, and rural facilities pay whatever the one agency that serves them decides to charge. The founder wanted an anonymous bidding mechanism as the core of the product. Nothing on the market provided it, and the platforms that came closest treated staffing and housing as unrelated problems even though both decide whether a traveling nurse stays.

The bidding mechanism also had to be the foundation the planned AI matching layer would sit on, so it could not be a bolt-on.

Our Solution

Hygge built the sealed bidding system as its own component with the marketplace assembled around it. Bids are collected anonymously, revealed on close, and the two-step structure gives both sides a defined moment to act. Onboarding was split by role from the first screen, so a facility, an agency and an independent nurse each move through a flow shaped for what they have to provide.

Authentication, profiles and job posting were built to work at the pace of someone using the product between shifts.
