How We Built Moving Company Software for a US Interstate Mover
Every move started with manual steps: someone estimated the volume of belongings, picked a truck and found a carrier. The company kept growing, and each jump in orders meant hiring more managers. Customers had no way to tell how many cubic feet a three-bedroom house holds or what truck it needs, so an estimate that ran low ended with a truck too small for the load. Two Hygge backend engineers work full time inside the client's team. The platform takes two addresses and a rough list of belongings, sizes the move, picks the vehicle and assigns the order to a carrier, and every order is tracked until delivery.

How Many Phone Calls Does One Move Take You?
Bring one recent move to a 30-minute call with a Hygge architect. You see how sizing, vehicle choice and carrier assignment would run for it, and what the build would take.
Where Each Move Runs on Manual Steps
Every order passed through people before a truck was booked.
Volume Guessed on the Phone
A household knows its addresses and roughly what it owns. Turning that into cubic feet and a truck size took a person, a call or a survey visit.
The Wrong Truck on Moving Day
An estimate that runs low means a truck too small for the load, a second trip and a day that falls apart.
Carriers Picked by Hand
Each order went to a carrier through calls and a spreadsheet, one move at a time.
Orders Out of Sight After Booking
Once a move was booked, its status lived with whoever had arranged it.
More Orders, More Managers
Every jump in volume was covered by hiring, so the cost of each move grew with the business.
The Challenge
The client arranges household moves across the United States. Every order passed through manual steps: estimate the volume of belongings, choose a truck, find a carrier. Order volume kept growing, and the company met each increase by hiring more managers. The work had to move into the platform.
Moves sized, matched and dispatched by people, with headcount tied to order volume.
Our Solution
The customer gives the platform three things: where they are, where they are going and roughly what they own. The system works out the volume and the vehicle the move needs and arranges transport to match, so the booking that comes back is a real allocation. The platform distributes orders between carriers and tracks each order's logistics from booking to delivery. Two Hygge backend engineers work full time in the client's team, across the Node.js and Laravel services, with Vue and React on the front end.

How the Moving Company Software Solves It
Each part answers one of the manual steps above.
Volume Sized From the Customer's Answers
Two addresses and a rough list of belongings become a volume estimate the customer gives in a few minutes.
The Right Truck for the Load
The system picks the vehicle capacity the move needs, so the crew arrives with a truck that fits.
Orders Assigned to Carriers
The platform distributes orders between carriers, and the manager sees who carries which move.
Every Order Tracked
Each move is tracked from booking to delivery, and its status sits in the platform for the whole team.
Backend Engineers in the Client's Team
Two Hygge backend engineers work full time in the client's channels, tools and release process.
Services Other Systems Can Call
Sizing, dispatch and tracking run as backend services behind a REST API.
What Runs Without Anyone Pressing a Button
The steps the platform takes for each new order.
Move Sized
Addresses and the list of belongings turn into a volume as soon as the customer submits them.
Vehicle Chosen
The system matches the volume to the vehicle capacity the move needs.
Carrier Assigned
The order goes to a carrier through the platform's distribution.
Status Tracked
Each step of the move updates the order's tracking record.
What the Platform Gives the Mover
What changed for the team, each tied to one of the manual steps above.
