How We Rescued a Stalled Health App for a German Health Company
A health company working with a private clinic in Germany had an app its previous vendor called finished. It would not start on iOS, and the back end had nowhere to run. The company's investment depended on a working app within two months. Hygge moved the code into its own repository and diagnosed it in days. The team fixed what was there, completed the product and passed both store reviews. The app reached production inside the two months and within the original budget.

Can Your Stalled App Be Saved, or Does It Need a Rewrite?
If a previous team left an app that will not run, we start by reading the code and telling you what can be saved. You get a proposal with the scope, team, timeline and cost.
Where the Previous Team Left the App
The app was described as complete, and none of it could reach a user.
An App That Would Not Launch
The React Native build failed to start on iOS.
A Back End With Nowhere to Run
The Ruby server had no working deployment.
No Context on the Code
The new team had to work out how and why everything had been built.
A Deadline That Could Not Move
Investment depended on a working app within two months.
Two Store Reviews Ahead
A health app still had to pass Apple's and Google's reviews.
The Challenge
The client works with a private clinic in Germany. Its product collects patients' medical data and tracks key health indicators. It gives guidance when a value is out of range. A previous outsourced team built the app, called it complete and left. Nothing in it could be put in front of a user. The company's investment depended on showing a working app within two months. The new team had to decide in days whether to fix or rewrite. It also had to handle health data with care and get through two store reviews.
An inherited health app that did not work, with funding tied to a demo two months away.
Our Solution
Hygge moved the codebase into its own repository and diagnosed it. The React Native app would not launch on iOS, and the Ruby back end had no deployment. The team fixed both and stood up cloud infrastructure on AWS for the back end. Then the team completed the product. It added sign-up, profiles, categories, multi-page health forms and camera and barcode capture of results. It also built a results screen, a dashboard, a recommendation engine, Klaviyo email and Stripe subscription billing. The app passed Apple's and Google's reviews. It reached production within two months and within the original budget.
Take control of the code, fix it, complete the product and ship it to both stores.
How the App Rescue Solves It
Each card answers one problem above.
iOS Launch Fixed
The React Native build was diagnosed and repaired, so the app starts on iOS.
AWS Infrastructure Stood Up
The Ruby back end got cloud infrastructure on AWS and a working deployment.
Code Taken Under Control
The codebase moved into Hygge's repository and was diagnosed before any change.
Fix Over Rewrite
The diagnosis showed the base could be saved, so the team completed it inside the two months.
Both Store Reviews Passed
The health app went through Apple's and Google's reviews and into production.
What Hygge Built
Every feature helps the clinic's advice reach the patient between appointments.
Barcode Capture of Results
Patients scan the barcode on a printed result, which removes the typing step where errors creep in.
Health Data Forms
Custom and multi-page forms make a long intake manageable.
Trends per Indicator
Values are stored over time, so the dashboard shows a trend for each indicator.
Guidance When Values Are Out of Range
A recommendation engine shows advice from content the clinic controls.
Subscriptions on Stripe
Payments and subscription billing give the product a business model.
Email the Team Can Run
Emails go out through Klaviyo, which the client's own team operates.
What Runs Without Anyone Pressing a Button
Once a result is scanned or typed in, the app does the rest.
Result Stored on the Profile
Each value is saved against the patient's profile.
Trend Drawn per Indicator
The new value joins the trend for that indicator on the dashboard.
Guidance When a Value Is Off
If a value is out of range, the recommendation engine shows the clinic's advice.
