AI Meal Planning Platform for a Food Technology Company
At seven in the evening, someone opens the fridge: half a cauliflower, some chicken, a jar of sauce. Recipe apps assume the dish is chosen and the shopping is done. So the takeaway menu wins, and the food ends up in the bin. A food technology company wanted the search turned around. Hygge built the platform from scratch. The user lists what is at home. The platform generates meals that fit those ingredients and the person's diet, in seconds.

Do Your Suggestions Start From What Users Already Have?
If your product recommends things to people, we start with what they have and what they need to decide. You get a proposal with the scope, team, timeline and cost.
Where Recipe Search Fails at Seven in the Evening
The trouble starts before the recipe, when someone is looking into an open fridge.
Recipes Assume a Shopping Trip
Most apps explain how to cook a chosen dish. The user needs to know which dish the fridge allows.
Odd Combinations Find No Match
Half a cauliflower, some chicken and a jar of sauce rarely match a fixed recipe list.
Personal Limits
Allergies, diets and tastes narrow every suggestion.
Seconds Matter
A slow answer loses to a takeaway menu.
Food Thrown Away
Ingredients go in the bin when the dish that would have used them never comes to mind.
The Challenge
At seven in the evening, the question is what can be made from what is at home, with no trip to the shop. Recipe apps answer a later question. The gap between what people own and what recipes assume is where food waste comes from. People describe their ingredients loosely. Staples are missing, quantities are unmeasured, and allergies and diets rule out whole dishes. The platform had to handle all of that and still answer in seconds.
Turning recipe search around: start from any ingredients and still answer in seconds.
Our Solution
The user lists what is available. The platform generates recipes that fit those ingredients and that person's tastes. Because meals are generated, an unusual mix of ingredients still produces dinner. Hygge built the product from scratch and owned its whole shape. That meant the ingredient model, AI recipe generation and suggestions, and the web front end and back end. The interface makes each result read as a direct answer to the user's question.
A platform that treats the ingredient list as the limit and generates meals to fit it.
