How We Rebuilt Furnace Monitoring Screens for Idletechs

Idletechs builds an AI that recognises the materials inside an industrial furnace while metal is made. The model is half the product. Operators act only on what they can read while the furnace runs. Each new analysis needed a new view, and fixed screens were rewritten every time. The Norwegian company also needed frontend engineers fast, people who could learn the domain. Hygge sourced, onboarded and ran frontend engineers inside its team for 15 months. They rebuilt the monitoring interface around widgets, so a new view no longer means a new screen.

How Long Would a New Engineer Take to Learn Your Domain?

If your product needs engineers who understand an industrial process, we send CVs matched to the need and onboard them into your team. You get the profiles and the price.

Where an Industrial AI Interface Falls Behind

The model is half the product. The other half is showing its output to the people running a furnace.

Continuous, High-Volume Data

Process analytics arrive all the time and have to stay readable.

Views That Keep Growing

Each new analysis needs a new view, and fixed screens get rewritten every time.

Plots of Many Widths

Zoom has to behave the same across quality plots of any width.

Capacity Needed Quickly

The client needed frontend engineers added to its team fast.

Domain Fit

Generic contractors would take too long to understand the product.

The Challenge

Idletechs watches what happens inside industrial furnaces. It sees what is in the furnace as metal is made and turns that into live analytics. A plant uses them to tune the process and hold quality. Showing that stream of process data in a form operators can act on is as hard as the model itself. The client needed frontend engineers added to its own team quickly, people who could match the domain.

An AI system for metallurgy whose output operators have to read in real time.

Our Solution

Hygge engineers worked across two of the client's product lines. The visible work was a rebuild of the monitoring interface around widgets. The live page became a set of composable widgets, quality plot tracks, event cards and a date picker for any period. Next to the features came the care an industrial product needs. A detail screen that failed to load the newest event on direct links was fixed. Zoom stopped leaking between plots of different widths. A local demo was adapted to run on newer Apple hardware.

Frontend engineers sourced, onboarded and run by Hygge inside the client's team.

How the Staff Augmentation Solves It

Each card answers one problem above.

A Live View Split Into Widgets

Plot tracks, event cards and widgets each carry one part of the stream.

New Views Without New Screens

A new analysis becomes a new widget, with no screen rewrite.

Zoom That Stays in Its Plot

Plots of different widths keep the same zoom without leaking into each other.

Engineers Onboarded Into the Team

Hygge placed the engineers in the client's own process and supported them there.

CVs Matched to the Product

Hygge sent profiles that fit the need, so the people could read the domain early.

What Hygge Built

Each element turns part of the AI's output into something a plant team can read while the process runs.

Composable Widgets

The live view is assembled from widgets, so new views are added without rewriting screens.

Quality Plot Tracks

Plots track quality over time, with zoom that behaves the same everywhere.

Event Cards

Cards show what happened in the furnace and when.

Period Selection

A date picker lets the team look back at any period.

Reliable Detail Views

A direct link to an event opens the newest data.

Demo on Current Hardware

The local demo runs on newer Apple machines.

What Runs Without Anyone Pressing a Button

While the furnace runs, the data moves on its own.

AI Watches the Furnace

The system recognises the materials present during metal production.

Analytics Stream In

Real-time results feed the monitoring interface.

Widgets Update

Plots, event cards and widgets show the latest results for the plant team.
